PhotoDiversity Media

Audience Engagement and Development

PhotoDiversity Media serves ZLI’s audience engagement needs. It develops media productions that introduce audiences to the sciences of light and life through compelling stories, visual culture, and educational programming, in ways that respect their intelligence and desires.

PhotoDiversity Media seeks to build public markets for animal welfare science while supporting associations crafted within ZLI’s Campaigns. By combining artistic storytelling with scientific themes, PhotoDiversity productions help create audiences, cultural relevance, and sustainable revenue streams that strengthen the long-term impact of ZLI initiatives.

All media productions begin as fully owned properties of The Zoological Lighting Institute, to enable charitable funding and mission guidance. To build resilient intellectual property, these titles are transferred at the appropriate time to PhotoDiversity Films LLC (or potentially another professional studio) to maximize outreach and impact.

PhotoDiversity Media Suites create a coordinated approach for The Zoological Lighting Institute to bolster the ZLI Mission. Each suite supports a specific ZLI Campaign and includes multiple forms of media designed to reach different audiences and distribution platforms.

In addition to long-form productions, PhotoDiversity Media develops public service announcements and short-form promotional content that help communicate ZLI initiatives and expand public awareness of animal welfare science.

PhotoDiversity Media Suites

Each PhotoDiversity Suite combines five complementary production formats designed to create layered storytelling and sustained audience engagement.

Inhumanities Anime Series

The Inhumanities Series forms the narrative foundation of each PhotoDiversity Suite.

These episodic animated dramas present deeply empathetic characters whose personal journeys intersect with the realities of animal life and ecological systems. Inhumanities 'humanize humans on screen' for animal welfare, encouraging audiences to engage emotionally with scientific and cultural themes connected to animals.

Episodes are structured around species, ecosystems, and real-world social contexts. Stories incorporate multicultural perspectives and stress experiences of expatriate and First Nations communities, in full support of DEIA ethos.

Through this narrative structure, Inhumanities productions present scientific content in ways that are emotionally compelling while maintaining strong connections to real-world animal science.

As serialized animated productions with appropriate budgets, Inhumanities series anchor the intellectual property of PhotoDiversity Media Suites.

Kuyō Shōkon Cinematic Productions

Kuyō Shōkon films are live-action cinematic works that accompany the themes explored in Inhumanities productions.

These films are conceived as independent dramatic features designed for streaming and broadcast distribution. They explore human relationships with animals through stories grounded in cultural memory, ethical reflection, and emotional depth.

The term Kuyō Shōkon refers to traditions of honoring and calling the spirits associated with living beings. In this context, the films recognize the deeper cultural and spiritual dimensions that accompany scientific inquiry into animal life.

Kuyō Shōkon productions expand the PhotoDiversity narrative universe into live-action cinema while increasing the professional value of independent film production within the suite.

PhotoDiversity Educational Shorts and Documentaries

Educational shorts and Documentaries communicate the scientific themes of ZLI campaigns directly.

Educational shorts complement the narrative structure of Inhumanities episodes by providing extended discussion of the animal species and ecological systems featured in the stories.

Documentaries present the broader issues addressed by campaigns and are designed for film festivals, streaming platforms, museum exhibitions, and educational institutions.

Together, these productions provide high-quality educational media suitable for broadcast, classroom use, museum exhibits, and conservation programming.

Pholk Tales Animated Productions

Pholk Tales presents genre pieces, and the folklore / traditional stories associated with animals featured in Inhumanities productions.

These animated works highlight the cultural narratives through which human societies have interpreted animal life across history. By presenting folklore from diverse cultures, Pholk Tales emphasize the rich symbolic and psychological roles animals play in human imagination. At the same time, the series recognizes the challenges of projection and identification that arise when humans interpret animal behavior through cultural stories.

Pholk Tales therefore encourage audiences to appreciate the cultural history of animal symbolism while also reflecting on how scientific understanding of animals has evolved.

ChibiKame (“Tiny Turtle”) PreK Playtime Productions

ChibiKame productions adapt characters from the Inhumanities series for early childhood audiences.

These stop-motion animated programs provide educational entertainment designed for preschool children and families. The shows follow a small character who navigates the world guided by light—sometimes beneficial, sometimes misleading—introducing early concepts about perception, curiosity, and learning.

ChibiKame productions emphasize simple storytelling, visual playfulness, and positive emotional development. While the aesthetic may echo contemporary chibi-style animation, the tone remains gentle and educational, similar in spirit to the beloved preschool program Pocoyo.

By introducing young audiences to the world of animals through playful storytelling, ChibiKame productions help cultivate early curiosity about nature and science.
